InVita Healthcare Technologies Introduces Industry-First Driver Mobile App for Blood Centers

FREMONT, CA: InVita Healthcare Technologies, a leader in chain of custody software technologies for complex medical environments such as blood and plasma collection, forensic labs, and hospitals, has announced the launch of the first native mobile app for blood products deliveries. The HemaControl Driver App from InVita tracks blood products as they travel from the blood center to their final destination at the hospital. The HemaControl Driver App eliminates paper, provides transparency to all parties on product deliveries, and overlays product pickups and deliveries with GPS traffic data to avoid transportation delays as well as reduce transportation costs by utilizing Title 21 CFR Part 11 digital signature technology.

The paperless environment of InVita's HemaControl Driver App ensures an audit trail with timestamp recording and complete documentation, which isn't always possible with manual systems. With the benefits of HemaControl, stakeholders throughout the supply chain receive an immediate notification of delivery, location, and who signed for it. All orders, including STAT, ASAP, and special orders for patients in need, are visible to hospital partners. Blood center operations gain immediate efficiencies—reduced time spent on best traffic routes, paper processes, and chain of custody tracking—which are critical to increasing delivery transparency, speed, and lowering blood product transportation costs.

"Transportation and movement of blood products is an important aspect of our operations," stated J.D. Pettyjohn, Chief Operating Officer at LifeSouth. "The driver app adds efficiencies and transparency throughout the process, making it easy to close out orders quickly and monitor the status of our deliveries."
