MSU Health Care Taps Epion Health to Improve Digital Patient Access

Providing contactless, patient-centered care while streamlining the registration and clinical workflows

Fremont, CA: MSU Health Care and its patients will benefit from digital patient interaction tools provided by Epion Health, a leader in digital patient engagement solutions and contactless care. They hope to provide patients across Michigan with patient-centered, digital access to care while also improving registration and optimizing clinical operations.

"We are on a mission to increase health care accessibility statewide for all patients, and especially those in remote parts of our wonderful state," said Seth Ciabotti, CEO of MSU Health Care. "By providing patient-centric tools that not only reduce the workload on our staff and providers but also meet patients where they are, we aim to serve the patients of today and tomorrow."

Patients of MSU Health Care will now be capable of using their mobile or desktop device to choose a provider, check-in for in-person or telehealth appointments, and pay any copays or balances due – all from their smartphones or desktop device. Patients would not need to memorize any log-in credentials or download software to begin the process using Epion Check-In.Data isn't ever lost if a session stops because all inputted information is safe on a factual-time basis. The system will redirect through the check-in process step by step and is only requested to provide relevant information to their appointment. MSU Health Care is working to improve patient participation and financial transparency by shortening the registration process and making it more accessible.

"At Epion, we pride ourselves on our proven results to drive patient access to care and exceed expectations arising from the consumerization of health care," said Joe Blewitt, CEO of Epion Health. "We are thrilled to work with health systems such as MSU Health Care that are focused on increasing patient satisfaction and streamlining workflows for providers and staff."

MSU Health Care has over 600 various healthcare providers introduced to the new pre-visit check-in process in stages. Following the completion of the software rollout, providers and staff will be able to take advantage of the following features:

  • For faster exams and a much more efficient waiting room, data is collected upstream.
  • For positive performance and more accurate invoicing, use high-quality, patient-entered data.
  • Access to more significant health education, cost savings, and care assistance is available to patients.
  • Reduced no-shows and late arrivals with pre-appointment communication and reminders

Patients can now complete digital health risk assessments for COVID-19, behavioral health, and other areas using Epion Digital Screeners, allowing doctors and staff can prepare for care until the patient comes for their appointment.
